Members of the Junior Sixth Form were delighted to be given the chance to visit Manchester University to take part in lectures and laboratory work.

The day started with a lecture running through an introduction to Genetics, from Ceri Harrop. Ceri is a PhD student researching Cystic Fibrosis.

The second lecture was titled ‘Mutant Genes, Degenerating Brains and Breakfast’ by Dr Stuart Pickering-Brown.

The girls were thrilled to get the chance to visit the University laboratories where they learnt new laboratory techniques (Hannah Lee pictured). Not only did the girls learn a lot but they left with a better idea of how their studies fit into the wider picture.
