A Chinese Spectacular
[printer-friendly page] [printer-friendly page]

A COLOURFUL dragon drew attention as it emerged from the Prep to dance its way through the corridors of the Senior School.

Flanked by drummers, the dragon was the culmination of celebrations to usher in the new Chinese Year of the Rat. Underneath the colourful creature were girls from the Reception classes.

The entire Infant Department had learnt a song, Chinatown Dragon, and arrived in school wearing traditional Chinese costumes. They enjoyed a wonderful display of Chinese music and dance performed by a parent, Mrs Teal.

Later, a range of activities was prepared for the girls as they made origami rats, Chinese dragons or masks. There was a workshop in the art of using chopsticks (to pick up Chinese sweets!) and ancient puzzles.

Other girls made red Chinese envelopes and bracelets and there was fun to be had practising Chinese calligraphy.
