Learning The Victorian Way
[printer-friendly page] [printer-friendly page]

A JOURNEY back to the Victorian Age awaited our Year 6 girls as part of their history project.

Special lessons in mental arithmetic, handwriting and vocal gymnastics provided a flavour of the 19th century. Other activities included poetry recitals, observational drawings and a study of the British Empire. Strict behavioural codes were in place all day.

These included regular inspections of hands and shoes.

There was even a Dunce’s Cap in school to guard against bad behaviour but suffice to say it went unworn.
