ECONOMICS and Business students enjoyed a guided tour around the Jaguar Car Plant at Castle Bromwich to see first-hand how a huge car manufacturing plant is organised.
A total of 23 girls were given a guided tour to witness business concepts being applied, such as lean production, JIT and automation, all of which are ensure zero defects. The group also learnt that it costs Jaguar £250 000 for every hour that the production line is stopped.
There was also time for a sneak preview of the latest Jaguar model which has only just started production.
The visit was particularly valuable given that the students have just started an A Level module on the car industry.
