Pupils of all ages from across Manchester High School for Girls organised a series of events to raise funds for The Genesis Appeal and to promote breast cancer awareness.
Sixth Form students led the way having been inspired by a visit from Judi Hibbert, who told them about the successful opening of the £14m Nightingale Centre and Genesis Prevention Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital in July.
The focal point of the fund-raising efforts involved a giant pink bra in the school reception to promote awareness, with students paying to decorate it with messages of support.
Other initiatives included a raffle, nail painting fingers pink as a show of support and a cake sale, where all the produce was decorated with pink icing.
Younger children from MHSG’s Preparatory Department entered into the spirit by paying for the privilege of wearing pink for the day.

One in 10 women across the UK is expected to develop breast cancer and The Genesis Appeal is the UK’s only charity entirely dedicated to its prevention, via screening and early diagnosis.
MHSG Head Mistress Mrs Christine Lee-Jones said: “Pupils of all ages were only too willing to get involved with these initiatives to demonstrate their support of The Genesis Appeal and promote awareness of breast cancer.”
