Crucible Showcase For Drama Talent
[printer-friendly page] [printer-friendly page]

THE cream of MHSG’s acting talent provided a spellbinding production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible over three nights in December.

The story is set during the Salem witch trials, but is seen by many critics as an allegory to social tensions in post-war America.

Produced by Ms Jill Haves, the powerful performances saw Zoya Hussain (Abigail Williams) and Olivia Williams (Elizabeth Proctor) play the main protagonists, together with former Manchester Grammar School student, Adam Usden (John Proctor).

In a performance packed with tension and emotion, the production was another triumph for MHSG’s Drama Department which last year recorded 100% GCSE pass rate at A* grade.

Other members of the Crucible cast were: Natalya Paul (Mary Warren). Sarah Clements (Mercy Lewis). Rebecca Banks (Susanna Walcott). Esme Conway (Betty Parris). Vidya Samuel (Tituba). Laura Deslandes (Reverend Parris). John Oxley (Reverend Hale). George Feld (Judge Danforth). Helen Dolan (Judge Hathorne). Claudia Williams (Thomas Putnam).
Catherine Bell (Ann Putman). Eve Sigley (Francis Nurse). Sarah Lewis (Rebecca Nurse). Catherine Mizrahi (Giles Corey). Becky Morhan (Ezekial Cheever). Nicole Wilkinson (Martha Corey/Sarah Good).
