After successfully completing her Science A-Levels, Joanne went to The University of Nottingham to study Medicine in the company of a few classmates from MHSG.

She returned to Stockport after graduation for her house jobs and vocational training in General Practice, and to marry Steve, her boyfriend from her schooldays. Both had decided that five years of long distance romance was enough!

In 1996, Joanne joined a small family practice as a 0.75 time partner, and in what seems like such a short space of time, finds herself as a Mother of two daughters, Laura, 11, and Emily, 7.

In 2006, Joanne returned to MHSG as its Medical Officer which serves as a delightful contrast to General Practice and its associated pressures. She is both amazed and impressed at how the nursing and pastoral care has developed and improved over the 20 years since she was a pupil, and she is enjoying the chance to support the development of this service.

Having been both a pupil and staff member, Joanne has completed the set by becoming a School Parent, with Laura joining Year 7.
