Business Brains Blossom

Our entrepreneurs of tomorrow pooled their talents during the School’s World of Work Day as seven groups competed to come up with the ultimate start-up proposition.

Each group was given a scenario that involved running a retail business within a new shopping centre that was in close proximity to a supermarket.

The groups were assigned an adviser and divided into three functional units covering design, marketing, and business planning. Marks were awarded for the performance of each team, as well as for teamwork, tidiness, and a presentation to the rest of the year group.

MHSG’s Head of Careers, Miss Louise Cooke, said: “It was a highly enjoyable day. The girls worked industriously and our advisers were very impressed with their creativity and determination.”

The day culminated with each group providing marketing presentation, complete with our very own the judges playing the parts of the Dragons. After much deliberation, the overall award went to the group that put together an imaginative proposal for a florist’s called Blossom.
