The children were able to handle giant stick insects and to watch them crawl both on the floor and over Roger’s arms! They watched an African land snail moving slowly in its box, and a giant millipede changing position with its hundreds of legs.
Roger taught the girls a lot about the habits, defence systems and life cycles of his ‘bugs’. The final treat was to see a tarantula emerge from the very bottom of the Bug Box!
Roger’s visit brought added enjoyment to Red Nose Day. We enjoyed the creatures so much that we plan to make the Bug Box an annual event.
