A TEAM of MHSG's best mathematicians has come sixth out of 1200 schools who took part in the UKMT Maths Challenge.  Having won their regional final at Manchester University, the girls travelled down to London to compete against  the 59 other finalists and achieved a great result.  Congratulations go to the girls who were Ruth Franklin, Claire Greenhalgh, Laura Kennedy and Claire Ung.

RUTH Franklin  had even more reason to celebrate when she received a letter from the British Mathematical Olympiad inviting her to a UK International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp.  The purpose of the camp is to identify and train potential members of the IMO squad with a view to representing the UK in forthcoming International Olympiads.  14 year old Ruth has been an outstanding mathematician since her days in the Prep Department and everyone wishes her lots of luck.

Congratulations, too, to Grace Canning who has made it through to the Junior Maths Olympiad.  Approximately only the top thousand people of her age nationwide get to this stage.
