For thousands of students, the chance to attend Manchester High School for Girls has totally transformed their lives. These are the girls who, because of their family circumstances, would not have been able to take up a place here without financial help. Many of these students have since met with significant success in their professional lives, contributed to society and, as importantly, have discovered a life-long love of learning and the appreciation of pursuits such as music, sports and art.

The whole character of Manchester High School for Girls has been shaped by its accessibility to girls of academic ability across a wide spectrum of social, religious and cultural backgrounds and we wish to ensure this continues. Less than twenty years after its foundation in 1874, the School set up its own scholarships and it is our intention to maintain our ability to fund the education of deserving girls.
