Grateful thanks go to all those donors who, by making generous gifts to the Bursary Fund, are able to change the lives of girls who might otherwise not have the chance of benefiting from an education at Manchester High School for Girls.

The School is very grateful to the John Slater Foundation for their ongoing generosity in support of the the Bursary Fund. Regular donations from the Foundation have enabled the School to establish the John Slater Bursary. For further details about the John Slater Foundation, please click here

We have recently received legacies from two old girls who had kindly remembered the School in their Will. We have also received generous donations from old girls, former staff and a local foundation, who have all recognised the importance of bursaries in providing excellent education for girls who might not have been able to take up a place here, without financial help.

We have received particularly generous gifts from Maynes Coaches, Warrington and from old girls, some of whom were recipients of local council scholarships. Two generous legacies were received from Mrs Kathleen Millen and from Mrs June Brown. Kathleen and June were both educated at Manchester High School for Girls and sent their daughters here. June's daughter and granddaughter were pupils here, and June was a great supporter of, and regular visitor to, the School for many years. Kathleen, whose daughter also attended Manchester High School for Girls left in 1927 and although living in Scotland she did not forget the School.
