ABOUT US
The Lakeland Society was formed in the early 1970s by former pupils living in Cumbria and North Lancashire, and we meet each year for a Lunch and meeting which provides an opportunity for exchanging news, welcoming members from other Societies and is a happy social event.
If non-members of Manchester High School for Girls' OGF would like to join us, they should contact School, either by letter or by email: ogf_mhsg@yahoo.co.uk and their details will be passed on to the Secretary of the Lakeland Society.
LAKELAND SOCIETY LUNCHEON AND AGM
Members of the Lakeland Old Girls Federation (OGF) met for their Annual General Meeting on 4th October 2008 at the Netherwood Hotel in Grange-over-Sands.

It was a rather rainy and misty Lakes day and the guest of honour, Head Mistress Mrs Christine Lee-Jones, said that it was reminiscent of her first trip to the Lakeland Society Luncheon some 10 years before when the usually beautiful view of Morecombe Bay had again been obscured by bad weather.
The weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of guests who were treated to a champagne reception followed by a wonderful lunch. Mrs Lee-Jones then updated attendees with news from the School for what would be her last time as Head Mistress. She was presented with a beautiful Cumbria Crystal bowl as a retirement gift from Lakeland President, Norma Platts, on behalf of the Lakeland Society.
The afternoon was rounded off with a lively talk by new OGF President, Shirley Dixon, who recounted stories from her successful career as a radio, television and film actress.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Lakeland OGF should contact the Lakeland Secretary, Aileen Brandrick on 01524 762111.
