Upcoming stylists, models and performers took centre stage for ‘one night only’ to present a ‘Frock ‘n’ Roll’ spectacular at Manchester High on 20th October 2009, in aid of the Pankhurst Bursary Appeal.

Students from MHSG and The Manchester Grammar School (MGS) modelled clothes from m&mdirect.com, sweatybetty.com, dancedirect.com, The Juice Corporation and Imani (Manchester), Vanilla, Plum and 3 Eleven (Hale), Hoopers (Wilmslow), Boudoir Boutique (Liverpool), Bank and Henri Lloyd.

The show was supported by ‘Sneaky Pablo’, an MGS-born alternative rock band which includes members Danny Caplin, Jack Levy, Oliver Pooley and Jonny Senior.

All proceeds raised from the fashion show will go towards the Pankhurst Bursary Fund for which Manchester High School for Girls launched an appeal this year. The aim is to raise £2m to provide financial support for bright girls whose parents’ financial circumstances would otherwise prevent them from attending the School.

Head Mistress, Mrs Claire Hewitt, said: “Since its foundation in 1874, the whole character of Manchester High School for Girls has been shaped by its accessibility to girls of academic ability across a wide spectrum of social, religious and cultural backgrounds. MHSG is committed to ensuring that it continues to fund the education of deserving girls so that, academic potential, not wealth, is the principal requirement for a place at the School.”

“Our girls worked tremendously hard to get the show ready, in a relatively short space of time, and it was a fantastic performance. From the models and the dancers through to the band and backstage team, they all worked incredibly well together and should be proud of their achievement.”

Thank you to Jonathan Oakes for the fantatsic photography.
