Dragons' Den
[printer-friendly page] [printer-friendly page]

Every summer, Year 9 students experience a day in the life of a shop owner. Girls are divided into groups and they are asked to concentrate on the business, design and marketing of their chosen shop. Experts from the world of business spend time advising the teams on their activities. Taking inspiration from Dragons’ Den, students present their ideas to their peers, the experts and a panel of judges.

Head of Careers and Biology teacher, Miss Cooke, said: “We were all impressed with the level of dedication and entrepreneurial skills demonstrated by students. It is clear to see that our girls are brimming with fantastic business ideas. Many of the experts commented on the creativity and determination of our girls. The winning team ‘Yum Yum’ (some of whom are pictured below) impressed judges with their bakery’s ethical and environmental stance. They proposed to offer any food not sold at the end of the day to the homeless and to carry out their deliveries on bicycles, as far as possible.”
