In 2009, over 70 MHSG pupils achieved the nationally recognised Junior Sports Leader Award (JSLA). The programme uses the medium of sport to help students to learn the essential leadership skills of communication, organisation and motivation.

JSLA is offered during Year 10 Physical Education lessons and it is clear to see how the girls grow in confidence and self-belief as the course progresses.

The 2009 awards were acknowledged with a presentation of certificates by former student, Jennifer Saunders (pictured), who once represented Great Britain in water polo.
